So Many Buttons

My person asked for my help in dusting off her buttons.
 She has gallon jars full of every kind and color of button. 

It was like looking at a rainbow.
I dusted the tops .
I shined up the glass.
She has a jar of Tiki God buttons that are almost as tall as me.
 Many buttons haven’t been sorted. I asked why , she said she ran out of big glass jars.
She has buttons in small jars and
buttons in boxes.
I was allowed to play in the ones in this box.
So many buttons. Few in my size.
She has boxes of buttons I wasn’t allowed to touch. Even bigger jars of buttons in the attic.
It was fun looking at the colors. I picked out the buttons I liked best.  I hope she gets more jars . I want to help sort the mixed up ones.

National Croissant Day

My person crocheted an apron for me.
Yes, it looks funny.
 It’s finished just in time for National Croissant Day.
I pulled out the cookbook , looked up how to make croissants.
Got out the mixer and all my supplies. 
The dough is mixed and needs to rise.
Rolling out the dough. Have to get them cut and in the oven.
Finished and cooling
I baked some other breads while I was at it.
I’m going to enjoy my croissants today. 
Hope you have time to sit down and enjoy one yourself.

Treasures from the Box

At the end of the day when ACorn returned home he hung up his sweater. 
He then ran to the box and started opening the rest of the treasures .
 First up was a wonderful apple stool with pencil legs.
 The stool is the perfect size for me.
The next item a gold cash register.
I love it. This is perfect for when I sell my vegetables at the Farmers Market.
Package number three a cuckoo clock . How can I not be on time now .
Stepping stones for the Fairy Garden walkway.
What is this??????
A Bunny my size. 
Sweet!
Misha came over to help with the opening of the last wrapped item.
What is that thing ACorn, Misha asked. It’s a mini version of a human said ACorn.
What do we do with it?
ACorn said Misha, all it wants to do is hug everything.
Misha had gotten more hugs in the time he was at Acorns than he has had in a year.
He decided the best thing to do was leave. He will let ACorn figure out what to do with the mini hugging human.

A Package

On my way out for adventures today we made a quick stop at the Post Office.
We were surprised by a package waiting for us .
I sometimes have very little patience . This was one of those times. 
While I was in the car I wanted the box opened.
We after all are going to be away from home all day.
My person said I could open the box. When we looked inside she said I could open one item. Whatever else was inside would wait until I got home.
I spied something right away. I want it open so I can see what it is.
It’s a dog! It’s a nice dog.
Buddy will have a friend. 
No matter how hard I tried to persuade my person to allow me to open more treasures. The answer was wait until I get home. 
I will share the rest of the contents of the box when I get to open them.

Cold and Water

I was off today early. I wanted to see if the river was overflowing its banks.
Driving over the bridge with my person. The water is a little high but not bad.
The spill way! The spill way!
 We’re here!
Hurry people lets get out!
I ‘m looking at the spill way. It’s 19 out with a below zero wind chill. I must be nuts.
Icicles are freezing on my whiskers and I’m about to get frostbite.
What is my person thinking. I want back in the car.
Yup! 
A much better view through the windshield with the heat on.
Come on keep backing up!
I’m outta here!
Get me home to my warm fireplace and hot chocolate!

Oh yes! 
Just a couple more houses,
 Home Sweet Home I’m coming.
This cold weather is for penguins not squirrels.

Heinis Cheese Chalet

I’m off on another road trip. Heading to Heini’s Cheese Chalet.
 Home of Bunker Hill Cheese.
 Hope to see cheese being made today.
I saw a few Amish Buggies on the way . Managed to get a picture of this one.
I’m almost at Heini’s.
As I went in the door this is what greeted me. I am standing on the ledge looking even if you can’t see me.
That cow is big!
I was so excited. I was going to see how cheese is made. What a shock for me. 
All shiny stainless steel cheese making vats were empty.
There’s not a worker in sight. I may never get to see how cheese is made.
The trip wasn’t a total loss. I went into the salesroom . 
It was stocked with many different kinds of cheeses. The best part is you can sample most of them. 
Colby and smoked sharp cheddar . Hot pepper cheese, ghost pepper cheese even yogurt cheese’s.
So many different cheeses. I can’t show them all.
I had a favorite of all the samples I tasted. It is this one in the picture.
 Chocolate cheese fudge. I even bought some to take home for later.
I plan to come again. The cheese vats better be full so I can see how it’s made.

Pies

National Pie Day was yesterday. Instead of baking pies I headed off on a road trip to search for different types of pies.
We ended up at Walnut Creek Cheese. There is a nice bakery inside this place.
I rode in the shopping cart. It says kids can’t be in the cart.
 I’m not a kid I’m a squirrel.  I rode in the cart.
I spotted Fry Pies right away. Lots of Fry Pies.
Every kind you might want.
Whoopie Pies were next. 
Many delectable Whoopie pies .
Even more pies could be found. Regular sized pies.
Mini pies.
Cream pies. 
If only I could have sampled each kind. I had a hard time deciding what pie I’d take 
home with me. After  contemplating for sometime I chose fry pies. A peach,
raspberry and apple.
 I had a fun outing learning about the many different kinds of pies around the area.
 So much better than baking pies all day.

Motorcyclist Wall Memorial

Buddy and I are on our way to see the Motorcyclist Wall Memorial in Hopedale Ohio.
We are looking for someones name that has been placed there.
Both of us are very small standing in front of the wall .
We sat on the big granite bike .
I took my bike. It’s just a bike not a motorcycle. Buddy and I are riding double.
We rode all around the wall reading the names on the bricks of all the riders that are no longer with us.
The American Flag and the Ohio Flag fly at the memorial.
I brought along my little flag to honor them. We sat on top of the wall quietly for a while.
At the end we did find the name we were looking for.

National Squirrel Day (Yesterday)

The igloo sat cold and silent in the drifting snow.
ACorn had just found out yesterday was National Squirrel Day.
He was off to confront his person. She had forgotten one of the most important days in a squirrel’s life.
My person made up for missing National Squirrel Day.
I was given  a whole bag and tub of pumpkin seeds.
I just needed to get them back to the igloo.
I enlisted the help of Misha and an extra large wagon.
Peanut came along for the ride.
We did drop a few seeds along the way .
When we reached our destination the ladder was needed. 
I propped it up against the wagon and began filling baskets , barrels and pots full of the seeds.

Peanut and I moved the seeds over to the igloo.
Misha returned the wagon.
I cleaned up all the dropped seeds.
We were exhausted by the time we finished. Peanut and I crawled into the igloo for a long rest. We’re set for the Winter with pumpkin seeds..
