ACorn’s new friend

This is my new friend Luna. She isn’t made of wood. She’s made of fabric from an Ann Wood pattern.
Luna is really nice. She was interested in hats. I did show her all my hats. Luna hopes she gets a collection of hats for herself.
Luna popped down to visit my treehouse to show me her very first hat. I think she will have her own collection soon. She is going to be a great friend to have. I told her she could come visit any time she wants to.

I’m here!

I’m ACorn and I’m popping in to let you know I’m doing great. I’ve been hibernating for a year. When you have a warm cozy nest of leaves, pine needles, and soft moss why wouldn’t you spend a year in it. It was the best way for me to stay safe during the worst of the pandemic . It was lucky that I had a good stash of food stored away . I didn’t have a mask that fit me well so going out wasn’t an option for me.
I’m out today in my humans home. She had new yarn delivered and the swift is set up . Life might be getting a bit more normal soon.. I will be needing some new sweaters . While the skeins of yarn are being turned into balls of yarn I’m allowed to ride the swift like a merry-go-round.
One can get very dizzy as the swift goes round and round . I better concentrate on hanging on tight. Will be back soon.

Winter Food Supplies

It’s time to head off to pick up the Winter supply of bird and squirrel food. I’m in the back of the SUV making sure we have enough room for the supplies.
We’re ready to head out.
It’s such a nice Fall day.
Only 3/4 of a mile and we’ll be there.
The loading spot for the seeds is just ahead. I can see it. Someone in a mask will load the seeds for us.
It’s all loaded. 40 pound bags and a lot of them.
I’m just checking to make sure we have it all.
We also have a few cases of suet. I think we’ll eat well over Winter.

Laundry Day for ACorn

The day is warm and sunny ACorn sets out his laundry tub.
Two plastic forks with a bit of leftover yarn make a good clothesline.
He suds up his water with laundry soap.
Washes his clothes on the scrub board
Hangs the clean clothes on the line .
Rests on a spool waiting for his clothes to dry.

Mud and Mackens Rock

It was a gray rainy day as I rode along in the car with my humans.
The dirt roads had turned to mud.
It was slow going with deep potholes.
I had a hard time staying seated on the dashboard.
The ditches were full of water.
We reached our destination. Mackens Rock.

I’ve been here a couple years ago. You never know what will be painted on the rock.

Finally we get to a paved road as we head home.

Riding Around

As I headed out today for a ride we followed a big mower
edging the road.
I saw this little Shetland pony on the left.
It looks big in the picture but it was small.
The dark brown horse on the right had her long legged foal with her.
I’m sitting on the ledge at the side window of the car.
I spotted these yellow iris blooming in the ditch alongside the road.
My human stopped the car so I could see these wildflowers.
A tree just split down the center and fell .
I was carved from wood like that.
My human just said we’re heading home.
I was very surprised. We hadn’t been out long today.
I hope to be back again tomorrow.

Little Spider Returns

I was out on the deck today.
Surprise!
Little spider crawled out of the flower petals.
Those green eyes were looking at me.
A movement scared Little spider .
He crawled inside the bottle.
As he crawled down the stem he slipped landing in the water.
He managed to grab the stem crawling back up to the top.
He forgot how he crawled in. He couldn’t find the way out.
My human scrunched the leaves together.
Little spider escaped safely.
He quickly crawled back to the bud and dried himself off.
I was watching closely.
My human pushed the big basket of flowers close.
Little spider crawled off the bud and hid.
I think he was embarrassed that I saw him fall in the water.
It’s nice my human takes the camera out with her each
morning to capture moments like this. Little spider could have died if
she hadn’t been around to save him.

Looking Good

Checking on the peony this morning.
Decided I needed a closer look.
Went in to grab my ladder.
Now to get it up to the bottle.
Being a small squirrel makes it hard to carry big ladders.
Got it !
Climbing up.
Looking good peony.
I went back in the house to retrieve my movie camera.
Oops !
Forgot to move the ladder.
Got it on film.
Man !
Now I have to get this stuff back in the house.
